This is the best high speed and big air ramp available. 4' long ramp x 4' wide gives a smooth transition for large 1/5 scale cars to hit at full speed. This is just the frame, you will need to supply your own top deck which is available at any local lumber store, or check out the link below. The ramp is easy to assemble, then setup and change the angle, there are additional start feet to support ramp in the higher positions. We're still testing out different ramp deck materials, ABS and Lexan are good alternatives, read below for more info.
Extra Start Transition - This one foot long section attaches in front of the ramp and helps when in the 60° and 70° positions, needs to be removed for 50°. This comes in real handy when using the ramp on pavement and grass to get a good transition, it's not necessary on dirt because you can just use dirt for the start. It does still come in handy on dirt because it won't require any maintenance as the ramp gets used. For this start ramp you will want to use 2 layers of 1/8" hardboard, you can use the leftover of a sheet, or get a 2'x4' board and rip it in half.
Assembly - Takes 40-60 min. - Frame bolts together with expanding tube
inserts, then clamp deck and use pilot holes in frame to drill and screw
the top deck to frame.
- Height - Folds down to 11" tall or 7" if you remove legs.
- Weights - 1/10 scale (1 sheet) weighs 27#, 1/8 scale (2 sheets) weighs 37#, 1/5 scale (3 sheets) weighs 47#. All weights with start transition.
- Three Settings - 50° is a big air long jump (40'+), 60° high jump (20-30' up) with a little distance, and a 70° step up (30'+)
- 3/4" Aluminum frame is easy to assemble with expanding tube inserts
- Adjustable legs with telescoping tubes for different angles
- Start feet at base of ramp flip around to hold the start of ramp solid at higher angles
-
Hardboard deck is weather resistant, give it a coat of paint for wet
climates. Use smooth side for mostly high speed, or textured side for
lower speed stunts.
Requires - 1/8" tempered hardboard (Masonite) - One layer is good up to 1/10 scale, two layers up to 1/8 scale, three layers is needed for 1/5 scale. The layer needs will also vary depending on how hard and fast you drive. Home Depot has full 4'x8' sheets at $13 and they will cut it to size for free, there are pre-cut 2'x4' sheets at $6.50 ea for the start. The Home Depot style is best because it is textured on one side which gives great traction on the ramp. Check out the link

- Other deck options - ABS and Lexan are good upgrades
-ABS
- Pros - It's more weather resistant and tougher than hardboard. One
1/8" ABS layer = Two to Three layers of 1/8" hardboard. This also helps
to shave weight for transporting.
- ABS - Cons - More expensive, not good UV resistance. You also need to countersink holes for the flat head deck screws.
-
Polycarbonate - (Lexan) is more expensive, but clear, tougher and UV resistant.
DON'T use Acrylic, it will crack and shatter like (Plexi-glass)
- Aluminum - or sheetmetal is NOT recommended, because screws will stick up and gouge your RC car chassis.
- Plywood - is NOT recommended, since it's essentially what we are creating with this ramp design.
